Project THE DOT
What has been done so far?

Since on July 14, 2009, when people started with the construction of scaffold-‐ ing around The Dot a lot, or rather a mountain of work has been done. After the scaffolding was built, on july 27, 2009 we began with the painting. This began with cleaning The Dot and making teh first sketch using a strap, six magnets and a number of markers.
Because it is a very large object (the former gas storage is 20 meters high and has an area of 1250 square meters) anything that has to be done takes an enormous amount of time. For instance, the mere placing of the first layer of paint took 704 hours to complete!
In total, 17 artists have been involved in the project in varying combinations of four to six people. During their work they were special suits and masks.

Currently over 4000 hours of work have been put into the project. When one person would be responsible, that would consist about 3 years of work! One can imagine that this project could not be completed in the current timeframe if only one person would be responsible.

What is going to happen?
After the winter break and installing the fourth roof on Tuesday, February 16, on Monday, March 1, 2010 we have started painting again.
It is intended that work will continue until early May 2010 so The Dot can be officially unveiled on Friday, June 4.
We would like to also remind you that it is possible for you to register for a unique screen print of the painting of The Dot, for more information on this screen and how you can order it please visit specials.
